A showcase of WWI artifacts is on display at the District of Lake Country Office. There is a collection of postcards sent to various addresses in England from a soldier on active duty during the First World War. They are stamped and signed by the field censor. Some of the place names have been crossed out for security reasons. The postcards are on loan from Ann Nott. The WWI medal awarded to Vinton Archibald is featured, along with his pay book and a copy of his postcard, ‘The Ship That Brought Me Home July 8th, 1919’. Archibald was a member of the Canadian Machine Gun Brigade. Also included are a WWI Hale Cotton Co. rifle grenade and an example of an early bugle issued by the Army and Navy Co-operative Society. Items issued to soldiers are displayed, including a helmet, haversack, puttees, canteen, and a combination spoon fork utensil. A list of Lake Country citizens who served in wars or peace-keeping missions is centered in the showcase.

Once again Museum volunteers Karen and Glen Gibbons have created a very meaningful display for the citizens of Lake Country.
