Display: Lake Country Sweethearts

Lake Country Museum’s February display in the lobby of the municipal office of the District of Lake Country celebrates Valentine’s Day. The Lake Country Sweethearts display features Harriet McDonagh’s wedding dress from her 1911 marriage to Verner McDonagh. Their wedding was the first documented wedding in Winfield. The dress is made up of intricate floral patterns of ivory lace. It is in amazingly good condition considering it is over 100 years old. Men’s and women’s fashion accessories are also on display. There are photos of several Lake Country couples, as well as a selection of vintage Valentine card prints.

This display ties in nicely with our recognition of the marriage of Sid and Anne (Goldie) Land’s  marriage on February 15, 1939. Anne and Sid were definitely Lake Country Sweethearts.
