Display: It’s a New Year

January Display for the LCMuseum
It’s a New Year

‘It’s a New Year’ is the latest Museum display at the District of Lake Country offices. Seven framed calendars from years past are featured. The oldest has a woman’s portrait and is from the Casorso Brothers in 1921. The others are promotional calendars from local businesses including Gleed’s Store, Winfield Red & White, Sigh Kobayashi Electric, and Sapinsky’s General Store. A brass desk calendar with rotating day dial and flip-up numbers promoted Bulman’s Foods.

Bulman’s started in Kelowna in 1916 but moved to Vernon in 1926. By 1942, it was the largest producer of dehydrated vegetables in Canada.

These monthly displays can be seen at the District of Lake Country offices on Bottom Wood Lake Road. Please stop and take a look while going to the Library or the municipal offices.

Thanks to Lake Country Museum volunteer Karen Gibbons for her wonderful displays. Gibbons brings a bit of local history to Lake Country residents. This display appeared in January 2015.
