Each Flower: Up to 4 cm (1 1/2") across and shallow saucer shaped with 3 broad, pointed petals with coarse yellow hairs on inside to about 3/4 of the way up; dark, purplish spot on inside base of each petal; 6 stamens, stigma is 3 parted; 3 narrow sepals shorter than petals and green-veined
Leaves: Single basal grass-like leaf up to 20 cm (9") long and 1 cm (3/8") broad and sheathing stem at base
Stems: Thin, green, and round with pair of opposite bracts
Blooming Period: May - June
Habitat: Open coniferous woods and grassy slopes. Location: Southeast British Columbia and adjacent parts of United States
