Each Flower: 1.3-2 cm (1/2-3/4") across with 5 broad, rounded petals veined with purple and hairy on inside; sepals oblong and slightly hairy on edges and terminate in short, stiff bristle; 10 stamens
Leaves: Mostly basal on long, slightly hairy stalks; blades 6.5-14 cm (2 1/2-5 1/2") broad and deeply cleft into from 5-7 irregularly shaped lobes which in turn are deeply toothed; hairy on veins beneath; small leaf where flower-stems branch off
Stems: Leafless up to flower-stems and slightly hairy below; flower-stems smoother and purplish
Blooming Period: June - August
Habitat: Moist, light, shady places
