Each Flower: 2.5 cm (1") across and deep cup-shaped with 5 petals-like sepals; numerous stamens
Leaves: Several basal leaves with hairy stalks 7.5-10 cm (3-4") long, hairy blades divide into 3 lobes, each lobe again divides into 3 smaller lobes; partway up stem is invoucre; whorl of similar-shaped leaves with either very short stalks or stalkless
Stems: Single below and often branching at involucre, at which point the stem appears to have swelling
Blooming Period: May - August
Habitat: Grassy meadows from the foothills up to high mountaintops
