Leaves: Opposite; upper ones have short stalks, lower ones stalkless; blades smooth and pointed oblong from 5 cm (2") to over 10 cm (4") long and up to 4 cm (1 1/2") broad, having conspicuous whitish mid-rib
Stems: Smooth, round, rigid, and usually reddish, especially above; reddish opposite stem branches from upper leaf-axils; stems and leaves exude milky juice when cut
Blooming Period: June - September
Habitat: Usually in damper areas, roadsides, and waste ground
