Each Flower: 1.3 cm (1/2") long; standard curled backwards at sides which touch behind, front often white; wings completely enclose keel; calyx silky-haired with 1 long, pointed tooth below and 2 smaller ones above; about 10 flowers to a cluster
Leaves: Mostly basal with grey-green appearance due to flat, silky hairs, which are thicker below showing as paler margin on slightly rolled up edges of leaflets; downy stalks, 1.3-3 cm (1/2-1 1/4") long with 5-7 narrow pointed leaflets, 3 mm-1.3 cm (1/8-1/2") long, radiating like spokes of wheel
Stems: Flower-stems downy and reddish; plants tend to be mat-forming
Blooming Period: July - August
Habitat: Sandy or gravelly slopes and ridges to above timberline, sparsely scattered
