Each Flower: 2.5-4 cm (1-1 1/2") across with outer circle of ragged-looking disk flowers, inner disk flowers tightly packed; involucre almost round, several rows of rounded, brownish, papery bracts with somewhat coarsely dissected margins
Leaves: Almost alternate throughout length of stems; lower ones may be lobed; stem leaves stalkless; blades narrow lance-shaped, covered with short, stiff hairs
Stems: Woody, square, with short, stiff hairs, many branched
Blooming Period: July - October
Habitat: Waste ground, fields, and roadsides
