Each Flower: Up to 9 mm (3/8") long, cup-shaped with 5 spreading lobes, 5 stamens and forked style, protrude beyond petals to give fuzzy appearance; 5 narrow, hairy sepals; flower-heads appear to arise from long leaf-stalks and overshadowed by blades
Leaves: All basal with long succulent, reddish-tinged stalks, sheathing below ground; softly hairy blades up to 10 cm (4") broad and 15 cm (6") long, deeply cleft into 5-7 lobes which are again dissected into 3 lobes which pointed arch-shaped tips
Stems: As long as leaf-stalks, terminating in a leaf with flower-head situated below
Blooming Period: March - July
Habitat: In moist open woods and slopes from moderate to high elevations
