Each Flower: 1.3-2 cm (1/2-3/4") long; standard curves backwards, edges almost meeting behind; wings almost completely enclose upcurved keel which encloses pistil and stamens; frequently front part of standard is white; calyx has 2 softly hairy, pointed cup-shaped lobes; each little flower-stem 7 mm (1/4") long
Leaves: Alternate at intervals up stem; stalks 5-7.5 cm (2-3") long, terminating in 7-9 pointed, elliptic, 5 cm (2") leaflets, flatly haired above and more so below, arranged like spokes of wheel; 2 pointed stipules where leaf-stalks join main stem
Stems: Woody, hollow, softly hairy, unbranched below
Blooming Period: June - August
Habitat: Moist alpine meadows and open wooded mountain slopes
