Over the last number of years we have been very fortunate to have Pam Laing, local birder, as a regular contributor to our website (see previous blog posts). Laing has described the local birds in our area and accompanied her excellent commentary with her outstanding photographs.

On January 10th, Pam will explore another area when she presents Flocks, Rocks and Crocs: birds, beasts and landforms of Australia’s Northern Territory, to the Central Okanagan Naturalists’Club (CONC).

The presentation will feature her recent visit to Alice Springs, Uluru (Ayer’s Rock), the Olgas, Darwin, Katherine Gorge and Kakadu National Park. In addition to Northern Territory birds, saltwater and freshwater crocodiles, camels, rock paintings and more will be featured.

Laing has visited Australia six times over the past eleven years, but this was her first time in Northern Territory. She says it was mind-boggling.

Pam Laing is a member of the Central Okanagan Naturalists’ Club, (CONC) with her principal interest being birding. Her bird photographs frequently appear in the CONC newsletter and are also featured on various trailheads and park websites in Kelowna, Lake Country and elsewhere.
