Each Flower: 2.5-4 cm (1-1 1/2") across and saucer-shaped, with 4 large, almost wedge-shaped petals, slightly dented; 8 stamens; stigma is 4-lobed; 4 long, pointed sepals sharply recurved downwards; long, green ovary below flower rising from leaf-axils
Leaves: Alternate, lance-shaped, and up to 9 cm (3 1/2") long and 4 cm (1 1/2") broad, softly hairy beneath and slightly serrated; lower stalked leaves wither and leave shorter-stalked stem-leaves which reduce in size up stem
Stems: Woody, pale biscuit-coloured, and slightly hairy
Blooming Period: June - September
Habitat: Moist meadows, streambanks, and roadsides at lower elevations
