Each Flower: 1.3 cm (1/2") across with 5, broad petals, narrowing to form tube 9 mm (3/8") long; yellow stamens conspicuous in the middle, 3 long and 2 short; style with 2-branched stigma; calyx with 5, narrow, pointed sepals, half as long as tube, joined at their lower half
Leaves: In many close whorls up stem, with 3 mm (1/8") long, narrow almost needle-pointed blades
Stems: Many-branched, tough
Blooming Period:
Habitat: Dryish, grassy banks and open Ponderosa pine stands
Note:
