Each Flower: Bell-shaped with 5 lobes about 7 mm (1/4") across with 5 purplish stamens protruding with long, forked style, well beyond petals, giving fluffy appearance; narrow sepals are silky-haired
Leaves: Basal leaves stalked, blades deeply dissected into opposite, elongated, cleft segments; alternate stem leaves smaller and shorter-stalked or stalkless; stalks and blades silky-haired giving silver-grey appearance
Stems: Erect, softly silky-haired, especially towards top; may be pinkish-tinged
Blooming Period: June - August
Habitat: Open rocky and wooded areas from below to above timberline
