Each Flower: Up to 3 cm (1 1/4") across with from 12-35 narrow ray-petals and yellow disk up to 9 mm (3/8") across; involucre up to 1.3 cm (1/2") long with several rows of green bracts with pointed outcurved tips
Leaves: Alternate, lower ones smaller, soon becoming dried and brown; upper leaves stemless, oval-pointed with saw-toothed margins, rough on both sides, up to 18 cm (7") long, up to 7.5 cm (3") broad
Stems: Single, almost woody, sometimes hairy
Blooming Period: July - September
Habitat: Open wooded areas from lower to moderate elevations
