Each Flower: Tulip-shaped, up to 5 cm (2") across, 5 cm (2") long, with 3 broad, rounded wedge-shaped petals, with central green band; inside base of each petal, creamy-white with yellow hairs, bounded above by purplish blotch; 6 stamens reaching to purple blotches, surround pistil with 3-lobed outcurved stigma; alternating with petals are 3 longer, narrow, pointed sepals, greenish with lavender margins
Leaves: Lower leaf long, thin, grass-like; stem-leaves small, arranged alternately up stem
Stems: Sturdy, smooth, slender, unbranched
Blooming Period: May - July
Habitat: Dry, open, grassy meadows and banks in sagebrush country
