Each Flower: 4 cm (1 1/2") across with many ragged ray-petals and 2-branched stigmas; lower part of each ray-petal surrounded by fluffy plume; involucre has many, pointed, green hairy bracts; inner row longer than outer row and may be 2 cm (3/4") long
Leaves: Lowest leaves large and deeply, oppositely lobed similar to dandelion leaf with soft spines on margins and on backs of midribs; stem-leaves smaller, clasping and unlobed above, becoming coarsely toothed lower down stem
Stems: Hollow, becoming thick and ribbed below
Blooming Period: July - October
Habitat: Roadsides and waste places
