Leaves: Leaves from base have stalks about 7.5 cm (3") long and 4 cm (1 1/2") broad with indented margins; alternate stem-leaves become narrow, lance-shaped, downy, toothed, and almost clasping stem
Stems: Ridged and downy

Habitat: Moist to dry, open meadows from middle elevations to near timberline
