Each Flower: Curved horn-shaped, 1.5-2 cm (5/8-3/4") long opening into 2 lips; upper lip 2-lobed; lower lip 3-lobed with darker purple veins inside; 2 bright orange folds between lobes; whole flower finely hairy; 4 stamens usually hairy; style white; 5 lobes of calyx pointed, pale biscuit to yellowish
Leaves: None
Stems: Unbranched, naked, finely hairy with 1 or 2 brown scales near base
Blooming Period: April - August
Habitat: Moist, grassy banks and open woodlands in valleys to middle elevations
