Each Flower: 4 cm (1 1/2") across with 6-10 broad, ray-petals surrounding brownish-yellow disk; sometimes ray-petals absent; bracts on involucre greenish-yellow. Below each flower 6-7 green, out-curved, leaf-like bracts often irregular in length
Leaves: Opposite, long lance-shaped, and toothed; lower ones 13-15 cm (5-6") long, upper ones becoming more pointed and narrower. All stalkless.
Stems: Round, smooth above and slightly hairy below, branching into three flower-stems, which may again be three-branched
Blooming Period: July - September
Habitat: Roadside ditches and boggy areas
