Height: 3-6 cm (1-2 1/2") and extending in tight cushions for nearly a metre
Each Flower: 8-10 mm (up to 1/2") across, 5 notched flat petals join to form a tube; 10 stamens protrude slightly beyond petals; 5-pointed calyx encloses tubular flower
Leaves: Mostly basal, short, needle-like leaves, crowded together to form bright green cushion (resembling patches of moss)
Stems: Very short single flower-stem
Blooming Period: June - August
Habitat: Rock crevices, open exposed ridges on stony ground at high elevations above timberline
