Leaves: Opposite, with stipules at base; lower leaves have stalks and are coarse, pointed, heart-shaped, and coarsely toothed; upper leaves narrower and become gradually smaller up stem; blades covered with stinging hairs
Stems: Unbranched, rigid, ribbed, and covered with stiff hairs
Blooming Period: May - September
Habitat: Mostly in open or shady areas up to sub-alpine elevations
