Each Flower: Up to 7 mm (1/4") long; 2 lateral petals join with top petal-like sepal to form hood slightly upturned at tip; below hood is sac-like lip slightly downcurved at tip; lateral sepals almost envelop the lip but are outcurved
Leaves: In basal rosette, long, oval, lance-shaped and up to 7.5 cm (3") long; thick and rigid and dark green above, usually with white midrib and network of whitish veins
Stems: Rigid and softly hairy with few pale, pointed, sheath-like bracts
Blooming Period: June - September
Habitat: Mossy, damp, or dryish areas in coniferous woods
