Each Flower: 2 cm (3/4") across, shallow saucer-shaped with 6 oblong petal-like segments with fine points, finely lined with dark veins; centre of flower often yellow; stamens have yellow anthers, ovary below flower, round and green; thin flower-stem, reddish, about 2.5 cm (1") long; where it joins main stem there are 2 sheathing bracts which do not reach flower; from same node is long single spathe up to 5 cm (2") long, narrow, pointed
Leaves: Several basal leaves, almost grass-like, 5-15 cm (2-6") long
Stems: Unbranched, flattened, ridged
Blooming Period: April - July
Habitat: Moist areas, marshes, and damp meadows near lake edges from low to middle elevations
