Each Flower: Narrow, green lip up to 7 mm (1/4") long; top sepal curves over 2 lateral petals forming a hood; lower, side sepals wide and pointed and 5 mm (3/16") long; lip extends backwards into cylindrical spur shorter than lip; narrow, pointed bract at base of each flower
Leaves: 2-3 basal, lance-shaped leaves 7.5-10 cm (3-4") long and 2 cm (3/4") broad, sheathing stem; stem leaves become smaller up stem
Stems: Succulent, green, smooth, and almost triangular at base
Blooming Period: June - August
Habitat: Mostly in wet sphagnum bogs, marshes, damp shady woods or open lush, grassy banks and lake edges
