Each Flower: 1.3 cm (1/2") across with 6, pointed, yellowish-green tepals with darker green veins and slightly downy on outside; 6 stamens; tiny bract below each flower
Leaves: Many leaves arranged spirally up stem as far as flowering branches; lower leaves broad, pointed-elliptic and may be up to 30 cm (12") long and 6.5-15 cm (2 1/2-6") broad and softly hairy beneath; longitudinal parallel veins are so prominent that leaf looks almost pleated; they reduce in size up stem which they clasp
Stems: Very stout, woody, hollow, smooth, and finely ribbed
Blooming Period: June - September
Habitat: Moist sub-alpine meadows and lower swamps
