Each Flower: Up to 4 cm (1 1/2") across with 5 rounded petals almost fringed at margins; 5 stamens, upper 3 short, curled and covered with downy hairs, lower 2 almost as long as lower petal; calyx pale green and 5-pointed
Leaves: Flannelly and whitish-green due to fine woolly hairs; basal leaves in a rosette, large lance-shaped, broad end outermost and tapering into stalk, blade up to 30 cm (12") long and 13 cm (5") wide; stem-leaves stalkless, becoming progressively smaller up stem and clasping
Stems: Unbranched, thick, and woody, becoming very downy above
Blooming Period: June - August
Habitat: Roadsides and waste ground
