Each Flower: 4 mm (1/10") across with 5 out-rolled petals each with central band; 5 stamens with purple anthers, giving "pepper and salt" effect
Leaves: Basal with purplish stalks 5-15 cm (2-6") long, terminating in 3 branches each bearing 2 or 3 pairs of opposite leaflets which are dissected into elongated segments with rounded tips, dark green, and almost carrot-like
Stems: Flower-stems unbranched, smooth, green, ridged, and becoming purplish below
Blooming Period: March - April
Habitat: Dry to very dry slopes and sagebrush flats up to moderate elevations
