Leaves: The several 2.5-10 cm (1-4") smooth leaf-stalks from base terminate in shiny, heart- or kidney-shaped blades; small, leaf-like bract halfway up stem
Stems: Unbranched, smooth, and green
Blooming Period: July - September
Habitat: Bogs and swampy meadows in mountains up to timberline
