Each Flower: Tubular receptacle bearing 5 tiny, tubular flowers, each with 4 pointed petals forming star; protruding beyond petals, a long 2-branched style, giving general fluffy appearance
Leaves: Many on branches, very narrow and pointed and up to 2.5 cm (1") long; pale grey-green due to very short velvet hairs
Stems: Bare and woody with many thin branches above; same colour and texture as leaves. Both stems and leaves have acrid smell when crushed
Blooming Period: August - September -- before sagebrush
Habitat: Arid parts alongside sagebrush
