Leaves: Basal leaves long stalked, roundly heart-shaped blades; usually withered by time flowers appear; stem leaves grass-like up to 5 cm (2") long, becoming progressively smaller up step
Stems: Dark green, slender, smooth, slight-ridged, sometimes twisted
Blooming Period: June - August
Habitat: Grassy roadsides and open woods at most elevations below sub-alpine
