Each Flower: 7 mm (1/4") across, with 7 mm (1/4") long tube opening into 5 rounded petals; 5 stamens each attached to petal; 5 pointed sepals covered with stiff hairs
Leaves: Many, narrow, pointed leaves up full length of stems; stalkless, 6.5-7.5 cm (2 1/2-3") long and 5 mm (3/8") broad with strong midrib down the back and covered with short, stiff hairs; become progressively smaller up stem
Stems: Stout, woody and green, covered with longish hairs and slightly ribbed
Blooming Period: April - June
Habitat: Dry, open meadows and hillsides up to middle elevations
