Each Flower: 1.5-2 cm (5/8-3/4") across; 5 petals 9 mm (3/8") long; middle, bottom petal broader and rounder than rest with several pencilled, purple lines like its neighbours on either side; broad lower petal develops into rounded spur at base; 5 pointed, green sepals, the ones either side of spur stand out like wings
Leaves: 2 or 3 basal leaves 7.5-15 cm (3-6") stalks; smooth, green and half round; blades broadly heart-shaped abruptly becoming pointed, 5 cm (2") long and 7.5 cm (3") broad; edges irregular
Stems: Green, smooth, and half round, branching towards top into flower-stems which are shorter than leaf-stalks
Blooming Period: May - July
Habitat: Loamy soil in moist, shady woods and forests
