Leaves: Opposite, long spear-shaped, finely toothed, hairy on both surfaces and either short-stalked or stalkless; blades 4 cm (1 1/2") to over 10 cm (4") long and 2-5 cm (3/4-2") broad
Stems: Rigid, hollow, four-sided, often reddish-tinged and branching into flowering stems at upper leaf-axis
Blooming Period: July - September
Habitat: In moist places, roadside ditches, moist waste ground
