« Photo Gallery | Laing (Pam) Album

Pam Laing has had a lifelong interest in the natural world, growing up in an English family that noticed and valued nature. She kept a wildlife journal for some years in Alberta, trying to learn what she was seeing and hearing. But it was only when she retired to the Okanagan in 1998 that she began birding in earnest and now it has become a passion.

Laing is an active member of the Central Okanagan Naturalists’ Club, participating in weekly and monthly outings with the birders’ group. She enjoys helping with annual Bird Counts such as those in Lake Country and Kelowna at Christmas and in Okanagan Mountain Park each spring. In addition, she has helped to inventory the bird species at the Winfield Creek Preserve for the Oceola Fish and Game Club, in Knox Mountain Park for the City of Kelowna and at the Johns Property, south slopes of Kelowna, for the Central Okanagan Land Trust.

Pam Laing used to live on a wooded acreage on Camp Road in Lake Country. Although still residing in the Okanagan, Laing currently lives in Kelowna.
