An invitation to Lake Country residents

The Kelowna Branch of the Okanagan Historical Society (OHS) is pleased to announce that this year’s annual Pioneer Picnic will be held at the Parkinson Recreation Centre (Kelowna), on Sunday, July 10th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This popular event has been held for many years, and allows local people to get together with family and friends, and celebrate life in the Central Okanagan Valley. Each year, a Central Okanagan Community is selected to have its citizens honoured at this picnic; this year, residents of the District of Lake Country are asked to attend the picnic as special guests. A suitable cake, honouring Lake Country and its residents will be on hand, and pieces will be given to everyone in attendance.

The picnic will be held behind the Parkinson Recreation Centre. Those people attending the Pioneer Picnic are asked to please bring their own picnic lunch. Tables, chairs, beverages (coffee, water, and fruit juice), cake, and ice-cream will be provided by the Kelowna Branch, OHS. Lake Country residents in attendance will be asked to step forward and tell a little bit about themselves and their families in Lake Country.

If you have any questions about this year’s Pioneer Picnic, please contact Bob Hayes, at (250) 763–8859.
