The Custom of the Country — public lecture today

The Custom of the Country: The Hudson’s Bay Company in Indian Territory is the title of today’s public lecture at the Creekside Theatre in Winfield. Doors open at 1 p.m. and admission is by donation.

Guest lecturer Dr. Duane Thomson has deep roots in the Okanagan Valley. Born in Vernon, raised in Oyama, and currently living in Oyama, Thomson is definitely Valley born-and-raised. For most of his career he taught at Okanagan College which began Okanagan University College. He is a Professor Emeritus of the Valley’s new educational institution University of British Columbia Okanagan.

Thomson is well qualified to deliver this presentation as his doctoral dissertation was focussed on the white and native populations in the Okanagan.
