Have you had an opportunity to visit the current exhibition at the Lake Country Museum? Hecho a Mano: traditional handcrafts of Mexico has been well received and continues at the Museum in Okanagan Centre Park until September 29th.

If you haven’t yet visited, take this opportunity to come and view these amazing artifacts which have been collected and arranged by our curator, Dan Bruce, and our summer student, Zach Kornell.

As well, there is a photographic exhibit produced by Lake Country resident, and one of the Museum’s summer students, Elise Hahn. This exhibit, Hired Hands: Mexican migrant labourers in Lake Country, is an impressive portion of the exhibition.

Elise visited Coral Beach Farms in Carr’s Landing and interviewed the Mexican migrant workers who work in our community for many months of each year. Her photographs are on display at the Museum and these images, as well as information from the interviews, elicit very interesting conversations.
