Guess the Artifact Contest: Artifact #3

Here is Artifact #3 in our ‘Guess the Artifact’ Contest. Can you identify it and explain its primary purpose?

Artifact #3
Artifact #3. Can you identify this artifact?

The mystery object chosen for Artifact #3 is on display amongst the tools in the Nellie Carter Room of the Lake Country Museum.

A correct answer should include both the name of the artifact and its primary purpose. The answer will be published on our Blog and our Facebook page along with the winner’s name. The winner will receive a copy of The Spirit of Lake Country or a print of an historic photograph.

You can participate in this Contest in a number of ways. One way to participate is to visit the Museum any day between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. over the summer for a closer look and to inform us of your guess. Alternatively, leave your comment below on this Blog, visit our Facebook page and leave a comment with your thoughts, or leave a comment on our Contact page, using Contest in the Subject line. The contest for Artifact #3 will continue until August 30th unless it is identified before that date.

Artifact #2 was correctly identified by Owen Dickie of Oyama. Artifact #1 has still not been correctly identified and the Contest for that artifact remains open until July 30, 2012.

The Lake Country Museum holds a large collection of interesting and unique artifacts. Over the next few months we will continue to pose challenges to the community in our ‘Guess the Artifact’ Contest.

  • I think this may be an upholstery tool.

    • Quick response, Brenda, however, not quite right. Hope you’ll try again.

  • I think this could be a glass cutter used for cutting glass?

    • Congratulations Randy. You have correctly identified Artifact #3. Staff at the Museum will contact you and ensure that you receive your prize.

Randy, perhaps you would use your enquiring mind to identify Artifact #1 which still has not been correctly identified. That contest remains open until July 30th. Give it a try!

  • Thank You…but I must admit, the reason I knew what that artifact was is because I have been a glazier for 40 years :))
